A classic one pot meal ..
Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Yakhni Pulao:
- 750 gm chicken on bone, curry cut,
- 3 cup long grain basmati rice,
- 5 tbsp desi ghee,
- Whole Garam Masala...
- 2 bari Elaichi,
- 6 laung,
- 10 kali mirch sabit,
- 2 tejpatta,
- 2 inch pc of dalchini,
- 6 choti Elaichi,
- Pinch Shah zeera,
- Pinch saunf (optional),
- 8 dry red chilli,
- 5 med sized onion thickly sliced,
- 1 tsp garlic paste,
- 1/2 tsp ginger paste,
- to taste, Salt
- 4 cup curd,
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder,
- 1 tsp sugar,
- 3 potatoes, peeled, cut into halves (optional),
Instructions to make to make Yakhni Pulao
- Wash rice, soak in water for 1 hour, strain it, keep aside.
- Take a pressure cooker, add ghee, heat it.
- Add whole garam masala, zeera & saunf, saute it for a minute.
- Now add dry red chilli, saute it for a sec.
- Add onion now, stir fry it until translucent.
- Add chicken, give a stir. Add aloo also.Now add ginger garlic paste now stir fry it for a minute. Sprinkle lil water to avoid burning.
- Add salt & garam masala powder, stir fry it till chicken turns light brown.
- Add 1 cup water, place the lid, give 2 whistles at high flame.
- Switch off the flame, allow it to depressurise naturally.
- Open the lid, add rice, also add lil more salt if needed, sugar & dahi, mix it well.
- You may add some more water if required.
- Place the lid, give 4 whistles at high flame. Turn off the flame. Allow it to depressurise naturally.
- Take out in a serving dish, garnish it with chopped dhania patta.
